David Brown

Dr. David Brown was raised in upstate New York, and after graduating from Williams College with a BA in English, had a brief career as a middle-school English teacher and swim coach. A job as an ECG technician prior to medical school at Harvard sparked his interest in cardiology. He completed all of his training at Boston Children’s Hospital, including a fourth-year senior fellowship in Cardiac Imaging, and two subsequent fellowships in Medical Education as a faculty member. Dr. Brown became Director of the Fellowship Training Program in 2011 and is the inaugural incumbent of the Kimbrel Family Chair in Cardiology. He lives in Dover, Mass. When he is not doctoring, he loves exploring the outdoors with his wife, three children, and two Havanese dogs. Among his favorite pastimes are cooking, gardening, and home repair projects.

David Kane

Dr. David Kane is a staff member of the Divisions of Inpatient and Ambulatory Cardiology while also serving as the director of the cardiology consult service. He attended the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed pediatric residency training at The Children’s Hospital in Denver. He completed cardiology fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital and then returned to University of Massachusetts in 2010 as a pediatric cardiologist. In 2018, Dr. Kane returned to Boston Children’s and became an associate program director of the categorical fellowship. He recently established a senior fellowship in Acute Cardiac Care and serves as its program director. Away from the hospital, he lives with his wife and three children in Sudbury, Mass., along with their poorly behaved but adorable labradoodle. He is an avid downhill skier who loves Cape Cod, Boston sports, and New England seafood.

Elizabeth DeWitt

Dr. Elizabeth (Lizzy) DeWitt is an interventional electrophysiologist in the Department of Cardiology. She graduated with a degree in physics from Middlebury College, and taught physics to high school students before attending Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She did residency in the Boston Combined Residency Program and stayed for a cardiology fellowship and senior EP fellowship. Her research interests include intraoperative and surgical electrophysiology, as well as arrhythmia syndromes and arrhythmic myopathies. She is the director of the senior EP fellowship, chair of the Compensation Committee, and co-chair of the Cardiology DEI committee, with particular interest and advocacy for advancing women’s careers and leadership positions in our department and in the pediatric cardiology community. Outside of work, she loves being active outdoors, especially in open water swimming, running, skiing, or sailing with her husband and two young sons.

Sarah Goldberg

Dr. Sarah Goldberg was born and raised in Maryland. She completed her undergraduate degree in cellular and molecular biology and genetics at University of Maryland, then went to Baltimore to earn an MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her combined residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Maryland Medical Center and served as chief resident during her final year. Not surprisingly, she is a die-hard Maryland Terrapin sports fan and firmly believes that anything tastes better with Old Bay seasoning on it. She finally decided to cross the Maryland state line to attend the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she developed an interest in cardiac critical care and the care of adults with congenital heart disease in the ICU. She completed her training with a senior fellowship in cardiac critical care. She joined the faculty in the Boston Children’s Division of Cardiac Critical Care in 2017. While she spends the majority of her clinical time in the Cardiac ICU, she also continues to see patients in the Division of Outpatient Cardiology. Her research interests include critical care of adult congenital heart disease patients, delirium prevention and management, and early mobility and rehabilitation in the ICU. She lives in Brookline, Mass., with her husband and toddler daughter, who keeps her too busy to have any other hobbies.

Jenasia Kirksey

Jenny’s journey at Boston Children’s Hospital started in 2018. She served as an outpatient cardiology patient experience representative. She was later promoted to both senior PER and team lead. In May 2022, Jenny transitioned into her new role as the department’s GME program coordinator. Currently, she is enrolled in school, pursuing her degree in healthcare management, and will graduate in 2025. In her spare time, she enjoys grabbing a cup of Starbucks coffee on 283 Longwood and spending time with her twin boys. Jenny also enjoys Marvel movies, astrology, and cooking Southern/Jamaican cuisine. Fun fact: She has studied Latin for four years and went on a trip to Rome!

Joy Gueverra

Joy was born in Trinidad and migrated with her family to Massachusetts when she was young. She earned her BS in health sciences from Stony Brook University. After college, she began working at Boston Children’s Hospital’s Blood Donor Center as a tech and transitioned to the Department of Cardiology in 2015. There, she started as a patient care representative in the pre-operative clinic while completing her MS in healthcare administration. After earning her master’s in 2019, she began working as the cardiology fellowship coordinator. She is currently the program administration manager for education, credentialing, promotions, and other projects within the department. She is passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion, medical education, and community outreach. When she isn’t working, you will find her enjoying the outdoors (hiking, biking, soccer, camping, skiing), traveling (favorite place to date: Chiang Mai), and learning about other cultures. She loves spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews!
